Pasture Eggs

Fresh from Maddie's flock.

Maddie collecting eggs in a basket on the farm

Maddie runs the eggs

She's 13 and she takes it seriously.

Every morning before school she walks down to the coop, collects, washes, and packs eggs into cartons. The hens are mixed heritage breeds that follow our cattle and pigs across the pasture, eating bugs, scratching through manure, and supplementing their pasture diet with non-GMO feed.

The result is yolks the color of sunsets and shells with the kind of color and density you only get from real pasture eggs.

$7 a dozen. Cash or card. Pickup at the farm.

About the flock

Real birds, real pasture, real yolks.

How many hens

Right now Maddie tends a flock of around 50 mixed heritage hens. Production averages around 30 dozen per week, with seasonal variation.

Pasture rotation

The hens move with the rest of the animals. They follow the cattle and pigs through the rotation, scratching, foraging, and adding nitrogen back to the soil.

What they eat

Pasture forage is the foundation. We supplement with non-GMO feed. We don't use commercial poultry blends with fillers, dyes, or unnecessary additives.
